Thanks in advance. Download the Forums for Androidâ„¢ app! Download Hey Teddyearp I have both the KFHD and the Nexus7. Some books bought from Amazon have the ability to be read out loud. Others do not. As you state, the best way to do it is to also get the audible version and then use the two in tandem. This feature is not available in the Nexus but you can just get a reader app like Cool reader which will do great job of reading aloud any ebook, side loaded of not, then to you. Just make sure that you download a decent text to speech voice like IVONA (currently free) first though, as the stock voices are a bit robotic! Once you get this set up, your mother will be able to read directly, be read to and have assisted reading where the text that is read out is highlighted on the page. I played around with this a couple of days ago and I know it works well! Well, though I have yet to test it, the kindle app says it includes whispersync. So are you sure, or anyone else please? All whispersync really does is synchronises your books across multiple devices, so that you are always in the same place whether you read the book on your kindle or on a kindle app on your phone...

UPDATE: Whyspersync for Voice is now enabled on the Windows Phone 8. The Windows client is now second to none and provides a great experience. Great job Audible! Updated (again): Paperwhite Version 2 is an incremental update whose software features are now available in the Version 1 Paperwhite. Some thoughts on V2 are discussed at the end or the article Updated (final? ): Voyage is the latest iteration of the Kindle. See here for a review. Note (clearly not final): Paperwhite Version 3 is a substantial update with a resolution upgrade that matches the Voyage. See more here. If you're a dedicated Kindle fan, you probably know that Amazon has enabled a new feature: Whispersync for Voice. Essentially, it allows you to synch your reading of a Kindle book and listening to the audio version of it from Audible. This was a beautifully executed plan by M. Bezzos and Co. that began with Amazon's acquisition Audible in the summer of 2008. Now when I get in the car for my brief morning commute (thanks Raleigh), I can continue listening to Orson Scott Card's Pathfinder from the same place I left off on my Kindle.

Kindle Reader+Audible+whispersync=N7 vs KFHD? - Android Devices | Android Forums Thread Starter OK, the title is a bit cryptic, but.... here's a bit of the background: My mother has been wanting a tablet for over a year now, last year it was the Kindle Fire, this year it is the Kindle Fire HD 7 or 8. 9. What really has her looking at the KFHD is the Whispersync app that will allow her to read a book for a while, then set it down and have the book read to her. She thought that she could do all of this for free on the Kindle HD, but I have found out otherwise; she must buy the book via the Kindle app and via the Whispersync app she can get the Audible version for a reduced price. Well not totally true, there are about ten titles that she could do this for free, lol. Hey she just turned 78 and she's pretty tech savvy, but I still gotta look out for some of her 'tech needs'. Anyways, I think she would have a better overall experience with the N7, but does anyone here know if all these apps will work just as well on the Nexus 7 as they would on a Kindle?

"Most people I know believe that if they only had more time to read, they would be more imaginative, more interesting, and more successful. Whispersync for Voice directly addresses that need, " said Donald Katz, Audible Founder and CEO. "The ability to seamlessly switch back and forth between reading text on any Kindle and listening to the same title in audio on your smartphone-and always pick up where you left off-means that the story can continue during those times of the day when you cannot look at a screen. We think that Whispersync for Voice can help us all enjoy more books, which is good news indeed. " New "Immersion Reading" With Immersion Reading, owners of new Kindle Fire and Kindle Fire HD can now synchronize Kindle text with the corresponding audiobook to create a more immersive and engaging experience, as well as deepen learning and comprehension. As customers read their books on Kindle Fire, text is highlighted while it is professionally narrated via the Audible audiobook.

:-) 10-15-2012, 11:47 AM # 13 It is for this reason alone I am considering getting rid of my monthly plan. In fact I sent Audible an email asking them what would be the benefit of keeping the plan since I can get the membership prices with the Whispersync. I am seriously considering getting rid of it when my Harlequin Blaze expires in December. 10-15-2012, 04:13 PM # 14 K3, K4B, KDX, KFHD, PW1&2 Posts: 704 Karma: 3000002 Join Date: Jun 2009 Device: K3, K4B, KDX3G, KFHD, PW1, PW2 I have an audible yearly contract because when I bought my Ipod Touch they discounted the Touch for paying monthly for Audible. SO I have one or two more months left, then can I convert to the $9. 95 yearly amount? Or do I have to cancel it? I don't think I can since I signed up for the year though. If I want a audible book from Amazon to go with a Kindle book do I have to have an Audible account. 10-16-2012, 07:26 AM # 15 Originally Posted by new You have to have an account, I don't think you have to have a membership plan.
