Wes was incredibly shocked when he saw that his father had collapsed, he just stood and stared at him and did nothing. When his mom, Joy, heard his father collapse she came running in. Joy was trying to maintain calm so that her children wouldn't notice how scared she actually was. All the characters in the scene were in complete shock and scared for Wes's father. They weren't just losing their father/husband they were losing someone who brought comfort and stability to the family.
